More than 1000 athletes competed at the 2009 Esychro Age Group Championships last week in Gainesville, Florida. The local team, Indy Synchro, sent 12 swimmers to compete in the age 13-15 category. The team comprised of Alexa Aton, Tori Baron, Jessica Giannuzzi, Laura Hinshaw, Alyssa Hoying, Natalie Huibregtse, Taylor LeCount, and Taylor Seyfried earned a bronze medal from a field of 40 teams and the team of Tara Alves, Hannah Blystone, Liza Cohen, and Alice Wang finished 35th. The trio of Tori, Natalie, and Alyssa finished sixth out of 42, and the trio of Laura, Alice and Hannah finished 28th. From a field of 46 duets, Alexa and Taylor Lecount finished eighth, the duet of Tori and Natalie finished ninth, and the duet of Jessica and Taylor Seyfried finished 29th. From a total of 44 solos, Alexa finished 11th and Alyssa finished 12th. Alexa Aton, 14, Noblesville and Erika Tully, 15, Fishers, were also selected to try out for the United States 13-15 National Team August 3-6 at the United States Olympic Training Center in Colorado Springs, CO. The 13-15 team, coached by Stephanie Raftery and Pam Hoying, practices and NFC and the IUPUI Natatorium.
